Massive Earthquake Strikes Chile.

One of the largest earthquakes on record has killed at least 300 people in Chile sending giant waves roaring across the Pacific Ocean that forced Japan on tsunami alert almost a day later.
In an address to the nation, President Michelle Bachelet said two million Chileans had been affected but, after touring the worst-hit areas by plane, she found it hard to spell out the magnitude of the disaster.

"The power of nature has again struck our country," Bachelet said, declaring six of Chile's 15 regions "catastrophe zones" in the aftermath of the 8.8-magnitude quake.

Highways in the South American nation of 16 million were sliced to pieces, bridges imploded and buildings collapsed as the 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck overnight some 325 kilometers (200 miles) southwest of the capital Santiago.

"This is a catastrophe of immense proportions, so it will be very difficult to give precise figures," Interior Minister Edmundo Perez Yoma said. Officials later said at least 300 people had been killed.

Too much too soon, we haven't even come close to getting over the catastrophic earthquake that struck Haiti a few weeks back with death tolls in the 100,000. Lets Pray for Chile, Haiti and all the countries suffering from natural disasters.

Bun B Talks Pimp C Tribute With Jay-Z.

Bun B gives all the credit to Jay-Z for their onstage tribute to Pimp C earlier this week in Houston. During a stop of the Blueprint 3 Tour in H-Town, Bun joined Jigga for "Big Pimpin'," and the two let the crowd recite the late Pimp C's rhymes.

"It was Jay's tribute," said Bun, who was in NYC on Wednesday night filming the video for French Montana's "Bad Habits." "I don't want anybody to get it twisted. Jay-Z was a very good friend of mine and Pimp C. He makes sure every time he comes to Houston, it's a big thing, and we can really give it up to Pimp. He doesn't want to do it for himself, and it's not about giving me shine. At the end of the day, we have to make sure in Houston, when that song is performed, at the end of the day, Pimp C gets the biggest moment. The biggest moment was when everybody in the audience and ourselves had to give it up to the Pimp."

RIP Pimp C

Lupe Fiasco To Write A Novel

Rapper Lupe Fiasco will soon take his love for storytelling to the next level when he begins writing his first book. In an interview, Lupe Fiasco revealed that he is currently working on writing a book about a window washer. “I started as a writer, since I was little kid,” the rapper told New Zealand’s 3News. “I’ve been telling stories and Hip-Hop has been an extension of me telling stories so it’s kind of like me putting it in a more traditional form as far as a book.” Lupe also revealed in his interview that writing is another way for him to “channel” his energy. “There are other ways besides putting out an album that allow me to channel my creative energy and I’m writing a book about a window washer,” said Lupe. There is no word yet on when the book will be released.
Interesting.....

Feed Your Skin.

During the Winter months it's really easy for skin to become dry, flaky, and sallow. Before you go out and spend your paycheck on fancy lotions and creams, try nourishing your skin from the inside out. It's important to keep in mind that what we put in our body is just as essential for a healthy glow as what we put on it

Seafood
Fish like salmon, tuna, and trout are high in omega-3s. Those good-for-you fats help soften dry skin by holding in moisture, which helps decrease the look of wrinkles and plumps up skin.

Eggs
sulfur-rich foods such as eggs and garlic help the skin from the inside out. Sulfur helps keep skin smooth by repairing tissue and elasticity in skin.

Greens
If you're not getting enough vitamin A in your diet, then your skin is majorly suffering. Not enough of this nutrient makes skin dry and flaky. The vitamin is also touted for its anti-aging benefits.  Dark leafy greens like spinach and kale are excellent sources of A.

Berries

don't need an excuse to  me some berries — they're great on their own or as a topping for salads, cereal, and yogurt. Full of antioxidants, berries protect the skin from free radicals, which disrupt healthy cell production, causing you to look older faster.

Beyonce and Matthew Knowles Caught Lying Again....

Matthew Knowles is one snake and even though I like Beyonce I'm giving her the side eye too. Producer Rob Fusari sat down with Billboard Magazine and told how he was gypped out of credit for "Bootylicious"..

Robs interview snippet when you read the rest…

Fusari tells Billboard magazine, “I came up with the idea to build a track using the guitar riff from Stevie Nicks’ Edge of Seventeen.
“I figured I’d put the guitar loop on there temporarily, and later go into the studio with a guitar and replay it, because I’d learned, after sampling Stevie Wonder’s I Wish for Will Smith’s Wild Wild West, that I didn’t want to lose 50 per cent of the publishing (royalties). I vividly remember telling Mathew Knowles, ‘Mathew, you got to book me into your studio and let me replay that riff.’
“He didn’t want to do it. So 50 per cent got cut for one note. That whole experience was bittersweet for me.

“I remember watching Barbara Walters interview Beyonce about Bootylicious, and she told Barbara about how she came up with the idea for the track.”
Fusari, who went on to help Lady Gaga launch her pop career, insists he was brushed off when he complained about the interview, adding, “I called Mathew – which was a big mistake; I got emotional, and I apologised after – but I called Mathew and said, ‘Mathew, like, why?’ He explained to me, in a nice way, he said, ‘People don’t want to hear about Rob Fusari, producer from Livingston, N.J. No offence, but that’s not what sells records. What sells records is people believing that the artist is everything.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know, Mathew. I understand the game. But come on, I’m trying too. I’m a squirrel trying to get a nut, too.’”

SMH... I thought honesty was the best policy but I guess not when you want all Fame.

Qunicy Brown Speaks On Teen Violence.

On Friday, February 26th, 2010 three hundred Chicago public school students will gather for the Teen Summit REMIX (Responsibility Is A Lifestyle), which will give Chicago Youth a coice and platform to address their concerns about the rising violence epidemic that has plagued their city and the nation. Hosted by the Political Swagger Foundation, U.S. Congressman Bobby Rush, Windows of Opportunity and others and will be livstreamed on GlobalGrind.com. We have asked some our celebrity bloggers to address their thoughts on youth violence.

Teen Violence. Yeah, an simple phrase, but one of the hardest and cruelest epidemics present in the world today. Why is teen violence so rampant? Why does teen violence continue to increase? These two questions are asked by everyone in all walks of life. Teen violence is like a ripple effect. It has long lasting consequences on victims, perpetrators, their families, and their communities. Because of the severe increase in recent decades, hundreds and even thousands of people are anxious to find ways to diminish or impede teen violence. We, as young people, must not only read about it, but take responsibility and DO something about it. A few tips I would like to share; We need to learn to take the negativity that crosses us and develop positive strategies. We should engage in the youth teen violence prevention programs and other support systems that are available in our communities. More role models are needed as a preventive measure to help combat this serious problem. We also need to learn how to handle the ups and downs and the pressure of violence from our peers. Even faced with terrible peer pressure, we need to be our own person. It is our responsibility to do the best we can with what we have. God gave us life and life is too precious to waste...I would like to end with one of my favorite quotes, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” Wise words from Maria Robinson. World, Let’s make a difference because nothing can stop us with the right mental attitude in helping to prevent teen violence.

Two Alarm Fire Blazes Philadelphia International Records.

Yesterday a part of our Philadelphia musical history went up in flames.

The fire started Sunday morning on the third floor of Philadelphia International Records on Broad Street near Spruce.

First responders say they saw several young people running from inside the building. One ended up getting stuck inside. He was then rescued by firefighters and treated for minor injuries. He was then taken in for questioning and released.
The fire is believed to have begun on the third floor which was the heart of the company's rich musical history.

"That's where our main studios are; that's where we recorded so many of the artists through the years.

We're just so concerned about all the potential damage that could have happened," Gamble said.
The effects of the fire are being felt by many.

"It's going to be very sad because Gamble and Huff is the Philadelphia sound," Kimmel Center volunteer Joan Goldberg said.

Both Gamble and Huff were out of town when the fire erupted.

3 Model Tricks We All Should Know!

Who said that us everyday pretty girls can't be a model! Three simple tips for my everyday "Tyra Banks".

Pastel eye shadows is your friend.

Just swap your charcoal shadow for the grown-up pastels makeup artist Dick Page used on models at Michael Kors. He lined their eyes with black pencil, then added gold shimmer in the inner corners. Next, he applied light blue or purple shadow along the lower curve of the eyes and from the lash line to just above the crease, then smudged, smudged, smudged. He finished with black mascara.

Orange is the new red lipstick.

The trick to pulling it off: Just pick one spot to play up. Makeup pro Lucia Pica chose the cheeks at the Erin Fetherston show. She rubbed creamy orange blush onto the models’ cheekbones with her fingers—a nice, bright contrast to their smoky brown

Textured Manicures

Think of your nails as a showpiece accessory (they’re jewelry, but cheaper), and apply a polish with sparkle—like chunky glitter or gold flecks—built in. “It’s all about texture,” manicurist Elle told me at the Reem Acra show. Another way to wear the trend: Try a dark, opaque shade, with a sheer, shimmery layer on top

President Obama Says Stimulus Bill Saved Troubled Economy.

President Barack Obama hailed Wednesday's one-year-old economic stimulus law as an accomplishment that staved off another Great Depression and kept up to 2 million people on the job.
Still, with millions still out of work and losing patience, Obama acknowledged that to them, "It doesn't yet feel like much of a recovery."

Marking the anniversary of the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Obama aimed his message at people skeptical about the expensive relief measure and Republican lawmakers who voted against it and continue to hammer him about it.
To the public, Obama explained, as he has many times before, that the stimulus plan was composed of tax cuts for most Americans along with help for state governments, extended social service benefits and huge investments in energy, education and infrastructure.

"One year later, it is largely thanks to the recovery act that a second depression is no longer a possibility," Obama said.

To his Republican critics, who say the bill was a costly, debt-financed blunder that has not delivered on the promise of job creation, Obama challenged them to take up the case with people who have stayed employed or have found help solely because he and the Democratic-run Congress acted.
Obama even delighted in recounting a section of his State of the Union address last month in which he talked of the tax cuts from the stimulus plan and watched Republican lawmakers fail to applaud the idea.

"They were all kind of squirming in their seats ... It was interesting to watch," Obama said.
And Obama made sure to commend himself and his own team for taking action

Shani Davis Makes History!

The color of the medal mattered, not the color of his skin. All Shani Davis was thinking about was gold. With a furious kick on the final lap Wednesday, Davis stuck his skate across the line and won his second straight Olympic title in 1,000-meter speedskating, the first skater to win this event twice at the Winter Games.
“That race depleted me 100 percent,” he said. “I never want to leave anything on the track.”
“Those last 200, 300 meters were very difficult,” said Davis, who usually leaves his left arm on his back until the final straightaway. “I was just trying to carry my speed. I could feel it leaving me. It doesn’t matter what it looks like, just as long as you get across the line as quick as you could.”
When he won this race four years ago, Davis became the first African-American athlete to win an individual gold at the Winter Games. This time, he simply wanted to be known for his skating.
“When you’re a world champion or an Olympic champion, you get this little thing on your back called a target,” Davis said. “To go out there and win the 1,000 meters twice is truly amazing.”

Still making Black History!!
