President Obama Nominates Elena Kagan for Supreme Court Justice.

President Barack Obama nominated Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court on Monday, declaring the former Harvard Law School dean "one of the nation's foremost legal minds." She would be the court's youngest justice and give it three female members for the first time.

The nomination to replace liberal retiring Justice John Paul Stevens set the stage for a bruising confirmation battle, though mathematically Democrats should be able to prevail in the end.
At 50, Kagan is relatively young for the lifetime post and could help shape the high court's decisions for decades. If confirmed by the Senate, she would become only the fourth female justice in history.
Obama cited what he called Kagan's "openness to a broad array of viewpoints" and her "fair mindedness."

Standing beside the president in the East Room of the White House, Kagan said she was "honored and humbled by this nomination."
"I look forward to working with the Senate in the next stage of this process, and I thank you again, Mr. President, for this honor of a lifetime," she said.

President Obama is really brings the Change that this country desperately needs! The republicans will start hating right about NOW.

Making History!! President Obama signs Heath Care Reform Bill!!!

This is one of those proud moments that I want to be able to tell my grandchildren. Yes We Can, Yes We Did!! This means so much to Americans like myself who have struggled with maintaining health care and insurance do to high cost and jobs unwilling to provide. My heart goes out to the 7yr who lost his mother after she was turned away from the hospital for no insurance and died. If you can't understand the joy in this than you can't have a heart. This is what a president is for to make new laws that will better all the taxing paying Americans not just the rich! Congrats President Obama!!!! I feel like my vote did count!

President Obama Says Stimulus Bill Saved Troubled Economy.

President Barack Obama hailed Wednesday's one-year-old economic stimulus law as an accomplishment that staved off another Great Depression and kept up to 2 million people on the job.
Still, with millions still out of work and losing patience, Obama acknowledged that to them, "It doesn't yet feel like much of a recovery."

Marking the anniversary of the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Obama aimed his message at people skeptical about the expensive relief measure and Republican lawmakers who voted against it and continue to hammer him about it.
To the public, Obama explained, as he has many times before, that the stimulus plan was composed of tax cuts for most Americans along with help for state governments, extended social service benefits and huge investments in energy, education and infrastructure.

"One year later, it is largely thanks to the recovery act that a second depression is no longer a possibility," Obama said.

To his Republican critics, who say the bill was a costly, debt-financed blunder that has not delivered on the promise of job creation, Obama challenged them to take up the case with people who have stayed employed or have found help solely because he and the Democratic-run Congress acted.
Obama even delighted in recounting a section of his State of the Union address last month in which he talked of the tax cuts from the stimulus plan and watched Republican lawmakers fail to applaud the idea.

"They were all kind of squirming in their seats ... It was interesting to watch," Obama said.
And Obama made sure to commend himself and his own team for taking action

In Loving Memory... RIP Jasmina Amena

Rihanna’s 7 year old fan Jasmina Anema, who Rih has been helping to find a bone marrow transplant for, died from her leukemia last night. Rihanna has spent a lot of time with Jasmina over the past year, and so has Kelly Rowland, all to help her their # fan through this rough time.

Here’s the message that was posted on her Twitter account just a few hours ago:
At 10:55 on January 27th, after a long battle, Jasmina lost her fight with leukemia. Thanks for all of your support.

Back in November, Jasmina went to surprise Rihanna on her album release day at an in-store signing.  She was diagnosed with leukemia in January of 2009.  Such sad news. R.I.P. Jasmina.

I remember this sweet girl from when Rihanna first visited her. So sad to hear news about any child passing, my heart and prayers go out to her family. RIP

President Obama State of The Union 2010!

Last night President Obama made his first State of The Union speech as President of The United States. He answered the questions that we all had wanted answered to. Health care reform, bringing out troops home, jobs, tax cuts for the middle and lower class.  and my favorite two making college more affordable and making banks pay the bailout money back!  President Obama delivered a strong speech, but not without wit and making even the republican party laugh. In case you missed it check out the video below.

Gotta Love This Guy!
